Three weeks ago, we planted grass seed in our front yard. After a week of anxious waiting and watering, we started to see green fuzz! We were all so excited; it felt like giving birth to our new grass!
A week later saw us watching Jamison's playoff football game, seeing our sprouts start up in the front, and bringing more loads of topsoil to spread on the back yard.
A week later saw us watching Jamison's football game in the rain, and then hurrying inside to wait for another day to plant the back.
Last Saturday saw us watching a football game in the snow, and then hurrying inside to wait for still another day to plant the back.
Today Sean took the day off, and the kids are out of school for fall break. We actually planted seed in the back yard this morning. Although the secondary water (sprinklers) is turned off now, we don't mind hand watering if it means more green fuzz.
I'm already anxiously awaiting the sprouts in the back yard! I keep hoping that if I look out there often enough, I'll somehow help it come up quicker.
So here's to green fuzz and no more winter mud being tracked in!

Your yard sure is coming along! Hurray for green fuzz!
Next year you'll be complaining about mowing all that green fuzz!! Looks great!
That's so exciting!! We'll have to come out and see your house again sometime soon... and we'll have to do that game night that we've been planning for the past three years!
We had good luck planting grass from seed as well. We put straw over the seeded earth and it really helps keep the ground moist.
Good luck!

We loved seeing the fuzz and look forward to when it's full grown turf. What fun awaits the whole family - and us when we finally get there to enjoy it with you!
Oh, I never realized how beautiful green fuzz could be. It's going to make you feel like you have a new house all over again!
